Creative writing
The exercises below are meant to improve your (creative) writing. They are reasonably easy exercises so they shouldn’t take up too much of your time. They are also meant to be fun exercises, you can be as creative as you like, write anything you want! Choose 1 exercise or choose them all!
1. Go to your school library, pick a random book and go to page 85. Write down the first sentence of the page. This will be the first sentence of your story. Then go to page 2, the first sentence on this page will be the last sentence of your story. What ‘s in between is for you to decide. You can write a short story or a longer one, you choose!
2. Pick 10 random words and use them for your story. You can pick the words by looking around you, what do you see? You could also get a book, close your eyes and put your finger on a random spot on the page, what word did you land on? If you want to write a longer story you can also use more random words.
3. Write your perfect day. From the moment you open your eyes in the morning to the moment you close them again at night. What do you do on that day? Why is this your perfect day?
